HEROIN SEIZED IN EARLY MORNING TRAFFIC STOP
July 2, 2009 3:26 PM

A Carlton woman was arrested Tuesday morning after a Deputy seized six baggies of Heroin and nine baggies of methamphetamine from her vehicle.

Shala Nichole Johnson, 24, of 441 N. 2nd Street Carlton was arrested for Unlawful Distribution of Heroin, Unlawful Possession of Heroin, Unlawful Distribution of Methamphetamine and Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine. Also seized were scales, baggies, straws and foil, all of which had drug residue on them.

According to Yamhill County Sheriff Jack Crabtree, Johnson was stopped just after midnight after a Deputy noticed Johnson's car parked in a suspicious place. "My Deputy saw Johnson's vehicle parked in rural driveway near some agricultural buildings. As he drew closer to the vehicle, its headlights came on and it pulled out onto Kuehne Road, eventually driving into Carlton" Crabtree said. The vehicle was stopped on suspicion that the driver may be driving while under the influence of intoxicants. It was then that the drugs were found.

Heroin seizures are relatively rare in Yamhill County. In 2008 only small amounts of residue were seized.
